Abstract (EN)

This thesis presents the geological and geotechnical properties of Engomi (Tuzla) region and its immediate vicinity that is still in development stage, of the city Famagusta in North Cyprus. There are thirty eight boreholes drilled to determine the engineering geological properties of the Tuzla Region that Standart Penetration tests were carried out during the drilling. Besides, several laboratory tests were carried out for the soil classification. Additionally, tomographic rezistivity and refraction seismic studies have also been carried out.At this thesis soil liquefaction phenomena investigated throughly so the liquefaction formation, triggering factors, the effect of fine contents and consistency limits on liquefaction susceptibility, cyclic failure event and the outcomes of liquefaction rewieved. The geotechnical borehole logs are prepared for each of the soil boreholes. The liquefaction susceptibility of the ground for each borehole were determined. As a result, liquefaction susceptibility maps prepared for the study area. Besides, soil group and local site classes maps as defined in the Turkish Specification for Structures to be Built in Disaster Areas were prepared.
