IV ABSTRACT PhD Thesis THE ROTIFERA FAUNA AND IT'S SEASONAL VARIATIONS IN THE GÜLÜŞKÜR BAY OF KEBAN DAM LAKE SERAP EMİRO?LU SALER Fırat University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Aquatic Basic Sciences 2001, Page: 113 In this study the rotifera species and their seasonal variations were investigated together with physical and chemical parameters of water between October 1996- September 1998. During the study 27 Rotifera species belonging to 1 8 genera were recorded. There was an increase in individual numbers of rotifers in spring and summer. The numbers of rotifers were less in autumn and winter. Keratella cochlearis, Kellicottia longispina and Polyarthra vulgaris were the most abundant species, whilst Asplanchna priodonta and Synchaeta pectinata were more cospicuous with respect to biomass. Asplanchnopus hyalinus and Hydatina (Epiphanes) senta were the first records for Keban Dam Lake The distribution of rotifers in littoral regions were statistically not important, while it was found to be important in the offshore samples taken vertically.
