Prevalance of road traffic accident cases in cats and dogs

In this study, a total of 68 cases, which included 35 cats and 33 dogs of different ages, breeds, and sexes, owned or unowned, were brought to Pati Izi Veterinary Clinic and Deniz Veterinary Clinic in Edirne province with the complaint of trauma due to traffic accidents in 5 years between 2018 and 2022, were evaluated. The findings obtained as a result of the anamnesis and examinations of the cases brought to veterinary clinics with complaints of traumatic lesions as a result of a traffic accident were classified and evaluated descriptively and statistically. When the trauma lesion distribution of the incoming cases was analyzed, it was discovered that 63.24% of cases consisted of fractures, with pelvic fractures accounting for 22.06% of the total. It has also been observed that there is a directly proportional relationship between the direction and severity of the traffic accident and the direction and number of fractures. This study aimed to provide a general description of the consequences of traffic accidents in cats and dogs and to thoroughly evaluate these outcomes. As a result, traffic accidents create a vital danger to all living things. In order to avoid traffic accidents, you should be careful while driving and obey the traffic rules.
