Abstract (EN)

Dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE MRI) is animaging modality that bases on serial fast imaging after IV contrast agentinjection and gives information about tumor viabilty and vascularization. The aimof this study is to evaluate the efficacy of DCE MRI in differantiation of benignand malign bone and soft tissue tumors.45 patients (22 women, 23 men) with age range of 11-84 (mean: 35,2)were involved in this study. Because one patient has two lesions, totally 46 lesions(34 benign, 12 malign) were involved in our study.27 (79,4%) of 34 benign lesions showed contrast enhancement compatiblewith type 1-2 and 7 (20,6%) of 34 benign lesions showed contrast enhancementcompatible with type 3-4-5 signal intensity?time curves in DCE MRI, whereas allof 12 (100%) malign lesions showed type 3-4-5 contrast enhancement pattern. The type of signal intensity?time curves has 100% sensitivity, 79,4% specificity,63,2% positive predictive value (PPV), 100% negative predictive value (NPV)and 84,8 accuracy in differantiation of benign and malign bone and soft tissuetumors. 85,2% cut off value of slopes of the signal intensity-time curves indifferantiation of benign and malign bone and soft tissue tumors indicated thatsignal intensity?time curves of 28 (82,4%) benign lesions had slope value lowerthan 85,2% and 6 benign lesions had slope value higher than 85,2%. Howeverslope values of all malign lesions (100%) were higher than that of 85,2%. Cut offvalue of 85,2% in slopes of signal intensity-time curves has 100% sensitivity,82,4% specificity, 66,7% PPV, 100% NPV and 87,0 accuracy in differantiationof benign and malign bone and soft tissue tumors.DCE MRI presents informations that can be helpful in differantiation ofbenign and malign bone and soft tissue tumors.Key Words: Dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging, bone and soft tissue tumors
