Abstract (EN)
Urban Information System (UIS) is one of the most effective data management tool in data gathering for urban administrations and demand for this system has been increasing rapidly. Urban information systems need some basic components such as data, software, hardware and people while performing administrative functions. The data is the most important component of all. In this thesis, the structure of Statistical Information System, as a compulsory component of UIS is reviewed and the state of local governments in Turkey regarding this issue are investigated.Keywords : Urban Information System, Statistical Information System, Geographical Information System, Municipalities, Database.
