Abstract (EN)

The status of infrastructure facilities in urban living areas is the most decisive factors of modernization and development as well as are important measures of the development level of countries. Infrastructural facilities involve a wide variety of services for settlements including safe drinking water supply, sewage, transportation, energy, communication, etc. In this study; it is aimed to indicate and reveal the results of the necessity of performing geological and geotechnical studies for the planning of infrastructural facilities in urban living areas and the vital importance for the applicability and the lifetime of urban planning studies. Therefore, the study area (Zonguldak) was characterized in a way that urban infrastructure development plan area in the city center with the nearby environment and was evaluated by means of the research pits and boreholes drilled in geotechnical explorations made in Zonguldak Sewerage System and Wastewater Treatment Project the newly opened research pits and boreholes and the types and distribution of geological units in the study area were tried to be determined, in-situ tests were performed, soil and rock mechanics tests on disturbed, undisturbed and core samples and the engineering properties of soils were investigated. In this study, the geological-geotechnical researches and the factors that may affect the urban infrastructure in the construction and operation of Zonguldak Municipality Wastewater Treatment System facilities (network line, collector line, treatment plant, septic tanks) were determined and the necessary precautions were taken with the results.
