Urban transformation and a study for designing of Alanya Damlatas region

This research aims to carry out urban transformation projects, which are planned to be put into practice within the scope of Law No. 6306 on "Transformation of Areas Under Disaster Risk", by taking local communities opinions into consideration. This study is important since it is a pioneer in this region. Within the scope of this research, data is collected through qualitative research methods such as survey and Delphi method. Survey was conducted in August-September 2018 period and Delphi method was performed in October 2018. In the framework of Delphi method, 27 locals were surveyed. When findings of this study are examined, it is detected that participants are satisfied with the study region slightly under the medium level. Besides, participants' demand for participation to urban transformation is slightly under the medium level. In addition to this, participants think that a similar level of urban transformation is required in the region. When findings on perspectives of participants on urban transformation, it is determined that participants do not agree with the opinion that urban transformation projects will lead to unearned income. Also, it can be indicated that participants are of the opinion that municipalities should leave company selection with regard to urban transformation to local community. When findings on residences and infrastructure in the region are examined, it is observed that reinforcement status of current building stock is evaluated under medium level by participants. Besides, participants believe that technical and functional reinforcements of buildings to be constructed by urban transformation projects will not create any difference. When participants' replies on general features of the region are examined, it is observed that participants find social reinforcements in the region sufficient slightly under medium level. On the other hand, they demand expansion of green areas in urban transformation projects at medium level. In addition to these findings, when green area stock in and around this region is examined, it can be stated that there is a sufficient level of green area in the region. When participants' perspectives on regional density are evaluated, it is perceived that participants do not regard Damlataş region as a calm place.
