Abstract (EN)

The impact of places on individuals' lives can sometimes evolve into the experience of place attachment. In the literature, the question of place attachment is a research topic that has been studied in different age groups and in various places. However, in the methods used during this inquiry, only the degree of attachment was determined rather than the situations and spatial elements that caused place attachment to emerge. In this direction, within the scope of the thesis study, the place attachment of elderly people and the reasons that create this situation were studied with a phenomenological approach within the framework of urban interior. The concepts of relationship, interaction and experience and the concept of urban interior are discussed within the scope of the thesis, specifically the Hamamyolu axis. Data from the world and Turkey show that life expectancy is increasing and elderly people have an important place in the population. Therefore, studies are turning the focus group to elderly people. The aim of this thesis study is to question the place attachment of elderly people using the Hamamyolu axis, which is evaluated within the framework of urban interior space potential, and the reasons that reveal this situation and its interaction with spatial elements. In this direction, interview questions created in parallel with Graham D. Rowles' (1983) insideness theory were applied as a semi-structured interview. Qualitative data analysis was conducted in line with the information received.
