The Role of urban sprawl in the transformation of rural: The Case of Erenler neighbourhood in Afyonkarahisar province

This study examines the process of rural transformation under the influence of urban sprawl. Urban sprawl refers to the urbanization and urbanization of urban peripheries that are outside the city and have a rural character due to population growth, migration, technological and transportation developments, economic and political factors. Urban sprawl, which generally occurs in metropolitan cities and is studied in the literature on this axis, has started to be seen in medium and small cities nowadays. In line with the aim of the research, the process of change in the spatial, economic, sociocultural and administrative structure of Erenler Neighborhood of Afyonkarahisar Central District and the role of urban fringing in transforming rural areas were evaluated.
