Dr. Kadir ALBAYRAKJune 2007, 207PagesHoly Bible is the name of the religious texts which includes the sacred scripts ofJewish religion and Christianity. Judaism and Christianity are two monotheisticreligions which which have affected life styles of people in many ways. In this context,we have investigated sexual themes in New and Old Testament in the frame of Bible inour thesis.In the first part, we have mentioned the description of sexuality, the conceptsconcerning sexuality, and the history of sexuality. In the second part, we examined OldTestament?s point of view of sexuality and the rules of sexuality which Jewish peoplehave to obey. In the last part, describing sexuality in terms of New Testament. We havetouched what Christians should do concerning the acts of sexuality.In conclusion, sexuality is an important and indispensible concept of humans as abasic need. That religions ignore this concept is unthinkable. Especially, Old Testamenthas put an importance on sexuality as being fertile where as New Testament hasapproached sexuality solemnly. New Testament, which views sexuality cautiously, hasaccepted it only in the circle of marriage. Judaism and Christianity have explained theimportance of sexuality very clearly to their beliewers. Finalliy, sexuality has beenaccepted in the circle of religious rules and when performed legally; otherwise, it hasbeen approached cautiously.Key Words: Holy Bible, Sexual Themes, The Old Testament, The New Testament,Sexuality.
