Abstract (EN)
P. aeruginosa is an important nosocomial pathogen and the prevalence of multiple resistant isolates has been increasing. The aim of this study was to determine the antibiotic resistance of P. aeruginosa strains isolated from clinical specimens. In this study, the susceptibility rates of P. aeruginosa strains to various antibiotics isolated from specimens from various wards of Afyon Kocatepe Univercity Medicine School Hospital, between January 2010 and September 2011, was examined. For the isolation of bacteria, conventional biochemical procedures were applied. Antimicrobial susceptibility tests of all isolates have been performed by disk diffusion method in Mueller-Hinton agar and VITEK 2 Compact, according to recommendations of Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute.A total of 218 P. aeruginosa were isolated from urine, sputum, wound, blood catheter, tracheal aspiration and from other samples. The susceptibility rates of these strains were as follows; 86,2% to Amikacin, 85,8% to Gentamicin, 74,8% to Ciprofloxacin, 59,6% to Levofloxacin, 61% to Meropenem, 61,9% to Imipenem, 3,2% to Ceftriaxone, 3,2% to Cefotaxime, 5% to Ceftazidime, 4,6% Trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole, 8,7% Piperacillin/tazobactam, 4,6% Amoxicillin/Clavulanate, 44% to Cefepime, 9,2% Sefoprerazon / Sulbactam and 4,1 % tetracycline. In accordance to this chaning antibiotic susceptibility data to determine according to time schedule, indicated that antibiotic susceptibility results were considered for selecting optimal antibiotic therapy and prevent the selection of resistance isolates.
