Abstract (EN)
In the context of coal-fired thermal power plants with a great emphasis on both the diversification of energy resources and the provision of energy supply security for our country, in this master thesis study, energy and financial evaluation of an ultra-supercritical pulverized coal-fired power plant for Zonguldak province are discussed. In the energy evaluation section of the thesis study, energy and exergy balance equations were applied for subsystems in the thermal cycle of the plant. In the financial evaluation part of the study, a dynamic financial model was established in which plant investment costs, operational expenses and revenues were taken into consideration. In addition to this, the changes in parameters commonly used in financial assessment of investment projects such as Net Present Value, Internal Rate of Return and Payback Period were examined depending on changes in different parameters such as plant gross efficiency, capacity utilization factor, investment cost, coal unit price and electricity selling unit price.
