ABSTRACTMaster of Science ThesisEFFECTS OF PARASITISM BY ECTOPARASITOID Bracon hebetor SAY,1836 (HYMENOPTERA: BRACONIDAE) ON HOST HEMOLYMPHPROTEINS OF THE MEDITERRANEAN FLOUR MOTH Ephestiakuehniella ZELLER, 1879 (LEPIDOPTERA: PYRALIDAE)Hülya ALTUNTAŞAnadolu UniversityGraduate School of SciencesBiology ProgramSupervisor : Prof. Dr. A. Yavuz KILIÇCo-supervisor : Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hülya S VAS2007, 50 pagesIn this study, the effects of parasitism by gregarious, idiobiont andectoparasitoid Bracon hebetor Say (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) on hosthemolymph plasma proteins of the mediterranean flour moth Ephestia kuehniellaZeller (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) last instar larvae were investigated. Hemolymphplasma proteins were analyzed by using spectrophotometric and Sodium Dodecylsulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) methods.Total amount of plasma proteins in host hemolymph were reducedgradually on 24 and 48 hours after parasitation treatment. 55.3, 39.4, 37.2, 35.6,33.9, 29.6, 24.6, 23.1, and 14.5 kDa proteins in total 25 protein bands, whichwere analyzed as densitometric, reduced over the 50%, on the other hand, fourbands as 52.0, 44.6, 19.0 and 24.6 kDa protein bands pointed out related to theparasitism were increased. As a result, parasitism of E. kuehniella by B. hebetor was demonstrated tocause quantitative changes in the plasma proteins of host hemolyph. Keywords: Bracon hebetor, Ephestia kuehniella, Hemolymph proteins,Ectoparasitoid.
