A research on knowledge and applications of personnel working in accomodation businesses related to personal hygiene

This research has been aimed to be determined of the knowledge and applications related to personal hygiene of personnel working in different accommodation businesses which are active in summer time (July-August) in Datça district of Mugla province. The research has been done in Datça district of Mugla province with 113 men and 111 women, totally 224 people, who have been working in 27 different accommodation businesses in this area and have accepted to participate in the research. A questionnaire including 59 questions has been used to determine the knowledge of personnel related to personal hygiene and their applications about this. As a result of evaluations, it has been found that most of the personnel could not have realized the application related to personal hygiene, people who know the right directions have done the application accurately in a high ratio, and people who do not know the right directions have done the right application by chance because of their habits and cultural qualifications. It has been determined that most of the personnel (74.1 %) have known nose hygiene and its care method and 80.8 % of them have applied it, and at the least ratio (30.8 %), they have known ear hygiene and method related to its care and 19.6 % of them have applied it. In accordance with the results obtained from the research done, it is suggested that it should be taken the necessary precautions in order to increase the knowledge and applications related to personal hygiene of personnel working in accommodation businesses.
