A research on materials used in housing construction on quality perception in individuals

The research aims to identify and compare the general quality expectations of construction contractors who produce housing and the customers who purchase them as wall as their specific quality expectations regarding materials. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with two different groups in Alanya, Antalya, including 9 contractors and 14 customers. Each group was asked two questions, one general and one specific to the research topic. The opinions gathered from the fist questions were found to consist of six main themes and 18 sub-themes. The second questions were individually addressed under 13 headings that form the material groups used in housing construction. The opinions of both the construction contractors and the customer group who purchased the housing were measured based on their expectations of quality, cost, and performance regarding the materials used in housing construction. Subsequently, these measurements were evaluated to determine which materials overlapped and which ones exhibited differences. As a result, the aim is to increase savings in terms of cost, time and natural resource usage in the production of housing and housing materials, by producing housing that meets expectations to a greater extent, is of higher quality, and is also less costly.
