Abstract (EN)

For nations, art is one of the most efficient ways to gain an identity in history. The process between the Turkish nation, who left significant marks in history and gilding such one of the traditional art branches, improved momentously after they had met with Islam. Turks carried the gilding art, which first examples of it shown in Uyghur, to the present day. Manuscripts are important documents which include religious, scientific and literary outputs in the history. These manuscripts reflect social, political and financial life of their era. Throughout history, humankind to show how much value to these manuscripts, they adorned and protected these cultural treasures. Today, these cultural treasures preserved in museums, libraries and private collections. In preserved manuscripts, Quran is the first one in most rewritten handiwork. Serving the manuscripts, precious works of our cultural heritage that received from the past to the world of art and science, hand down the next generations while analyzing Islamic calligraphy, binding and adorning of them is extremely crucial. In this context, analyzing gildings of the Quran with inventory number 487 Museum of Alanya preserved in Konya Manuscripts Regional Directorate is aimed. The gildings of the Quran that we focused on examined in ways of style, method, pattern, colour, design and craftsmanship. Every gilding pattern of the manuscript was drawn while evaluating the obtained data. The period of the Quran which we could not find any information about copying was determined by analyzing the gildings. According to findings obtained, believe that the Quran's gildings represent Classical Ottoman gilding style. Also, it's aimed to bring obtained findings to art and science world.
