Techniques and application methods used by the chief in choir education

A choir conductor is a director, an instructor and an organizer. In the success of a choir, the conductor's technique and methods of application, knowledge and the way of transferring information, the stages of organizing the choir, planning and programming, and his attitude towards the choristers are the factors of great importance. The aim of this thesis is to compile and examine all these elements in detail. Within the scope of the thesis, after providing a basic background on the formation of sound and the importance of breathing, the choral training process is discussed in different contexts. The main mission of the choral conductor is to comprehend the music literature and to interpret the work in subject well and accurately. The conductor is obliged to interpret the music in the way and for the purpose that the composer created it and aimed to reflect it to the audience. The choral conductor can achieve this effectively by having a rudimentary knowledge of musical styles and a bright perception. For this purpose, firstly, musical styles and interpretation techniques appropriate to various styles are examined in the context of different historical periods. In the light of this information, some proposed techniques and methods are listed to be utilized by the choral conductor during rehearsals and concert performances. In the next stage of the research, the suggestions about keeping the interest of the choristers, the classification of sounds, forming the choir and the concept of first rehearsal are mentioned within the scope of the planning and preparation phase of the choir education. Rehearsal techniques and conducting techniques are examined separately. Recommendations for the program and concert preparations and the qualities expected of the choral conductor as a leader are presented as a final point.
