Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the attitudes of children who are under protection and care towards sports on their self-confidence and socialization levels. A total of 270 children between the ages of 13-18, who are under protection and care in the Children's House Site Directorates located in Ankara, Yozgat, Kayseri, Kırşehir and Çorum cities were included in the study. The participants were asked to apply the socio-demographic data form, the sports attitudes scale, the scale of self-confidence, and the social cohesion scale in order to obtain information on age, gender, city, school status, sports situation, duration of protection and care, and substance dependence. The data obtained were processed in SPSS 24.0 package program and analyzed through this program. In order to determine the normality state, normal distribution curves and skewness-kurtosis coefficients were examined. As for relational analysis; Pearson Product Moment Correlation coefficient, independent groups t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey HSD test were applied. In the study, it was determined that there was a significant and positive relationship between the attitudes of children who are under protection and care and their self-confidence level. It was concluded that there was no relationship between the attitudes of the children who are under protection and care towards sports and their social adaptation levels. It was also concluded that the attitudes of the children who are under protection and care towards sports show a significant difference according to the gender variable. It was found out that there was a significant and positive relationship between sports attitudes and sports variable. It was seen that the duration of protection and care of children had no effect on their attitudes towards sports. As a result, it was concluded that the attitudes of the children who are under protection and care towards sports had a positive effect on self-confidence, sporting situation and gender.
