ABSTRACTMASTER THESISA STUDY ON RESEARCHING WATER CHANNELS AND TERRACES ATKORYKOSOzan ARTUNUNIVERSITY OF ÇUKUROVAINSTITUTE OF NATURAL AND APPLIED SCIENCESDEPARTMENT OF ARCHAEOMETRYSupervisor: Prof. Dr. lhami YEĞ NG LYear: 2005 Pages: 85Jury : Prof. Dr. lhami YEĞ NG LProf. Dr. Selim KAPURProf. Dr. Vedat PEŞTEMALCIIn this study water channels and terraces at Korykos ArchaeologicalSettlement were studied and compared with the present structure.Data obtained fromaerial photos dated 1975, topographical maps of 1976, 1987, 1989 and LANDSAT 7satellite images dated 21.01.2000 and 28.01.2000 have been used. All the dataincluding ground truth have been represented as different layers under GIS.Flow rate and flow velocity have been determined by calculating the slope ofthe ancient channels. Present situation; location and the total area of the ancientterraces have been obtained by using the satellite image.
