Dictionary of Kozan's Varsak Turkmans

The Turkish written language, the fırst examples of which we have started to see since the eighth century, continues to exist depending on the oral tradition before this century. The only area where this oral tradition is alive today is the dialects. It is an indisputable fact that studies on dialecs that establish a connection between written and oral periods of Turkish will shed light on the dark periods of our language and will add both meaning and form richness to today's vocabu-lary. The content of the study, whic we have created based on this reality, is the vocabulary of the Varsak Turkmens living within the borders of Kozan. Our work consists of three parts. In the fırst part, the history of the Var-sak Turkmens, the source of the word Varsak and information about about tke study area are given, while the second part consists of the dictionary. The third part of our study is the result, bibliography and photographs. This study, which aims to record the disappearing vocabulary values of Turkish, which has been kneaded wiht Turkish culture for centuries, to be a sour-ce for etymological, lexicological, dialectological, semantic studies and to contri-bute to the data obtained in this field, ıt reveals the dialect of Varsak Turkmens, that there are inhabited in their villages in Adana Kozan and in the framework of dictionary rules, as a sentence witness.
