Abstract (EN)
The main aim of this research is to determine the engineering properties of crushed aggregates taken from the quarries on Kırşehir province, Turkey. The research has been carried out on seven different quarries within Kırşehir province in three stages. In the first stage; reserves, mineralogic structures, pressure strength and hardness properties of main rocks have been examined. In the second stage; physical and mechanical properties of the crushed aggregate samples taken from the rocks belonging to the seven quarries and of the aggregates taken from the Kızılırmak River have been determined. In the third stage; density, water absorption, tensile splitting strength, uniaxial compression and elasticity modules of the concrete samples composed through aggregates have been determined. To conclude, these crushed aggregate quarries have sufficent reserves and appropiate minerological structures and all samples are suitable for aggregate use in terms of their physical, mechanical and technological features. Among these aggregate samples, Seyfe, Demirli and Kızılırmak quarry of aggregates are not compatible with the standards with respect to their water absorption properties and Seyfe quarry does also not meet the standads with regard to wearing away features of the aggregates. It has been determined that the samples from Keçikale quarry have the best aggregate qualites. In terms of hardened concreteproperties, it has been seen that the concrete with additives gives better resulty by 10% with compared to the concrete with no additives Science Code : 2251101 Key Words : limestone, aggregate.crushed aggregate, concrete
