Abstract (EN)

The ultimate aim of this study is to monitor earthquake activity, to determine earthquake parameters and to investigate the 1D seismic wave velocity structure in the crust with stations established in Kula NET network in order to observe the current earthquake in the Kula Volcanic Area and its surroundings using local earthquake data. Since there was no such monitoring network in the region in the past, it is also important to examine the study area in detail in this way. In our study, velocity and acceleration records of 53 stations belonging to Kula NET, AFAD and KRDAE were examined and in order to obtain better quality results, the location, magnitude and arrival times of the earthquakes recorded by the stations of AFAD and Kula NET network were read. The quality of seismological studies in a region depends on the accuracy of earthquake locations. The accuracy of earthquake locations depends on the quality of the previous seismic velocity models, the distribution and number of stations in the region, and the accuracy of the phase readings. In this study, 38865 earthquake reversal program was approximately positioned and the data used in the study were selected as RMS<5, GAP<200 and 6 for the observation numbers P, so that a high quality data could be selected from the data set after the location determination process, and the remaining 989 data were selected. The one-dimensional velocity structure of the region was obtained by inverting the earthquake with the Velest program. According to the results we have obtained as a result of our studies, it has been determined that the crust in the region consists of 4 layers, the P-wave speed of the upper 9.1 km thick layer is 5.64 km/s, while the average P-wave speed of the lower layer is around 6.15 km/s and the crustal thickness is 38 km. In this study, the 1-D seismic velocity structure required in the seismological surveys of the Kula Volcanic Area's surroundings was determined. 3-D tomography studies and seismology studies to be carried out in this region will be reference values.
