Abstract (EN)

In recent years, thousands of coumarin derivatives have been synthesized or isolated from different plants to investigate their anticancer and enzyme inhibitory properties. In addition, various biological properties of coumarin derivatives such as anticoagulant, antimicrobial and anti-HIV are under investigation. Some coumarin derivatives are commericially available or under clinical tests thanks to their biological properties. N-Heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) are the most investigated ligands in the research areas of organometallic and catalysis chemistry. It is known that Ag(I)-NHC complexes have antimicrobial and anticancer properties. Ru(II)-NHC complexes are also investigated for their anticancer effects in addition to catalytic properties in various organic reactions. In this thesis, coumarin-bearing two benzimidazolium chlorides, two Ag(I)-NHC complexes and two Ru(II)-NHC complexes have been synthesized and characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopy and elemental analyses. The effect of the synthesized compounds on the activity of human paraoxonase I (PON1) have been investigated.
