Ahmed Al-Karamānī's Tafsīr al-Qur'ān in terms of Qur'ānic sciences

In this study, the work of Ahmed b. Mahmūd al-Karamānī (d. 971/1564), an Ottoman commentator, his work called Tafsīr al-Qur'ān, has been examined in terms of its nature, method, sources and the Qur'ānic sciences. Karamānī's contributions to tafsir and specifically to the subjects of ulūmu al-Qur'ān have been determined and these were believed to enrich the literatüre. Our thesis consists of four parts. In the first chapter, which we call the introduction, the literature about Karamānī and his work has been evaluated after touching on the subjects such as the subject, purpose, limits and importance of the research. In the second part, the discussions on the name and nature of his tafsir were explained and final opinion stated. And also each tafsir has a certain method, it has been determined which method Karamānī used in his tafsir and how he interpreted the verses. On the other hand, it has been emphasized that he has a great command of different scientific fields by including the sources that the commentator applied while writing his work. In the third part of our thesis, Karamānī's interpretation has been examined in terms of Qur'ānic sciences; In this context, determinations and analyzes were made. In this section, rather than the information in the basic tafsir books, the definitions made by the author about the sciences in question, the examples he brought and the different evaluations he made are presented. The sciences mentioned for an original study presentation were transferred from Karamānī and left as they are; with the evaluations written at the end of each main title, comparisons were made between Tafsīr al-Qur'ān and basic tafsir works. In the fourth chapter, in which we gave the title of conclusions and suggestions, it was emphasized that Karamānī's Tafsīr al-Qur'ān included all of the Qur'ānic sciences and was a valuable source for the tafsir literature, and it was emphasized that this tafsir should also be investigated on various scientific subjects.
