Abstract (EN)

In the design of water structures, some information and data are needed. The first of these is the estimation of what the amount of water will be at a certain date in the future. Making these estimations correctly is of great importance in the operation of reservoirs for flood control, determining the water potential in the river, knowing how the production will be affected for a hydroelectric power plant in dry periods, distribution of drinking and irrigation water and planning the transportation in the rivers. Various estimation methods can be used to determine future water quantities. Estimation of hydrometeorological variables is important for studies in the field of water resources. One of these variables, precipitation, directly affects the use of water resources. Precipitation is still one of the most difficult meteorological variables to predict accurately, due to the multiplicity of parameters that affect its formation and the large variations from region to region. In this study, it is aimed to reveal and predict the characteristics of monthly precipitation data using the wavelet transform method by using the monthly total precipitation data across the Gediz Basin.
