ABSTRACTM.Sc ThesisINVESTIGATION OF THERMAL PROPERTIES OFSPHEROIDAL GRAPHITE IRON ALLOYSTankut ATEŞFirat UniversityGraduate School of Natural and Applied SciencesDepartment of Physics2006, Page : 87In this study, thermal properties of a spheroidal graphite ductile iron alloy have beeninvestigated after being subjected to different thermal treatments and annealing, in which 16samples were produced. In order to determine phase compositions and grain sizes of 16different samples, X-ray diffraction analysis have been done and the grain sizes are comparedwith each other. DSC measurements of the each sample have been taken to determine theactivation energies and transformation enthalpies. TGA measurements have been taken toobserve the oxidation (or corrosion), obviously mass loss, SEM analysis to specify the phases,and the heat conduction unit measurements to determine the thermal conduction coefficientsand in the end the results are compared with each others.Keywords: Alloys, Iron-Carbon alloys, Spheroidal graphite ductile iron
