Abstract (EN)
In this study, it is aimed to reveal the position of Turkey in the global markets by examining the production of milk and dairy products, foreign trade, raw milk prices and policies for the sector in the 2000-2020 periods in the world and in Turkey, and to develop solutions by discussing the problems. Secondary data were used in the study; Documents of national and international organizations such as TUIK, USK, SBB, TRADEMAP, FAO and OECD, as well as domestic and foreign studies on the subject were used as materials. In Turkey, there has been an increase in the amount of livestock, milk and dairy products production in the period of 2000-2020. In Turkey, the most cheese is exported in dairy products and the export amounts of milk powder are very low. Raw milk prices increased in real terms in the analyzed period. In Turkey, in recent years, the policy of protecting high domestic prices against the outside has been changed and the domestic milk markets have been harmonized with the world markets. In order to evaluate the current production and export potential in the livestock and dairy sector in Turkey, the sector should be supported by structural and stable policies.
