Abstract (EN)

This study examines the transformation of Islamic music and dhikr practices of Islamic sects described as heterodox, from 1980 to the present. Beside the role of popular culture and globalization in this transformation, the role of Islamic groups and the social transformation of Turkey in the recent past were also taken into consideration. In this context, the transformation of the melody, rhythm and timbre of Islamic hymns and dhikr practices of the religious orders were investigated in the direction of popular cultural forms..
