Abstract (EN)

Depending on the chemical composition of the geothermal fluids scaling andcorrosion are important problems in geothermal applications. Scaling and corrosionproblem types and remedies which are dependent on the chemical composition of thegeothermal fluids are studied and in scope of this workThe reservoir rocks of the geothermal systems are Paleozoic metamorphic rocksin the Kurşunlu area and which consists of marble, schist. Miocene - Pliocenesedimentary rocks are lying unconformably on top of these unist, they are the caprocks of the systems.The first geothermal well is drilled in 1979 in Kurşunlu geothermal field by MTA.In the following years 4 more wells were drilled by MTA which were used by thethermal resort forbagniology. In the year 2000 district heating system wasestablished and the wells were used for district heating as well as thermal resort.While approximately 6-10 lt/sn of thermal water was used for the thermal springs,this demand has rised to 80-150 lt/sn for the district heating system.Thermal waters in the Kurşunlu areas are generally Na-bicarbonate. The results ofmineral equilibrium modeling indicate that the thermal waters of the study area areoversaturated with respect to aragonite, calcite, hematite and undersaturated withrespect to amorph silica.Scale Deposition quantities have been calculated using Prheeqc computersoftware and daily amounts of scale deposition and estimated time to clog well iscalculated with respect to production amounts.
