Comparison of phytochemical content of Nepeta cataria L. Cultivated under in vitro and outdoor conditions in Kütahya

Daha sonra doldurulacaThis study was conducted to determine the effect of different timing of pruning on the yield and quality of the Nepeta cataria (catnip) plant under conditions in Kütahya. The study was carried out at the Dumlupinar Univercity Hekim Sinan Medical and Aromatic Research Center's experimental field between 2023 and 2024. According to the data obtained, the highest plant height in Nepeta cataria was achieved in the harvest before flowering (49.6 cm), while the lowest plant height was achieved in the plants harvested after flowering (44.3 cm). The highest number of branches was obtained in the harvest after flowering (132.3 branches), while the lowest number of branches was obtained in plants harvested before flowering (91.0 branches). The highest fresh herb yield was obtained in the harvest after flowering (614.3 kg/da), while the lowest fresh herb yield was obtained in plants harvested before flowering (376 kg/da). The highest dry herb yield was obtained in the harvest after flowering (258.3 kg/da), while the lowest dry herb yield was obtained in plants harvested before flowering (144.3 kg/da). The highest essential oil content was obtained during the full flowering period (0.03%) at harvest, while the lowest essential oil content was obtained in plants harvested after flowering (0.01%). A total of 39 components were identified in the essential oil, the main components being Caryophyllene (10.35%), 4-Acetyl-1-methylcyclohexene (9.76%), (E)-beta-Famesene (10.16), cis-beta-Farnesene (7.93%), Benzenepropanoic acid methyl ester (9.15%), and 4aα,7α,7aα-Nepetalactone (17.67%). It is understood that the ratios of the parameters studied in relation to the Nepeta cataria plant vary according to the harvest times of the plant. Seeds of N. cataria species were obtained from MS application with a germination rate of 61.43 ± 1.43% at 25 o C and an average germination time of 10.32 ± 0.66 days. When different shoot medium (MS (Control), MS+1mg/L BAP/0.5 mg/L NAA, MS+0.5 mg/L KI, MS+1 mg/L Ki and MS+2 mg/L KI) were compared in terms of shoot and leaf development in N. cataria plants, the highest values were obtained from MS+2 mg/L KI nutrient medium in terms of shoot number/explant number, shooting explant ratio and leaf number.ktır.
