Abstract (EN)

This study was performed on 2 9 workers between 36 and 45 years old ( 1? = 36. "27) working in underground coal-mine of Ömerler-Tunçbilek (Kütahya), and on 40 helthy non smokers and non drinkers officers between 23 and 53 years old ( I? =36.52) in order to determine the effect of such working conditions in respect or atherosclerosisand the liver fonction tests. The second group was taken as control group. In sera of both groups triglyceride, total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, SGOT, SGPT, LDH and GGT levels were determined. At the end, serum triglyceride level of workers was found to be significantly (p<0.0001) decreased whereas HDL-cholesterol and LDH levely were decreased (p<0.0001 and p<0.002) respectively. It was concluded that people working in underground coal mine were under risk of atherosklerosis Key words: Coal-mine, TG, Choi, HDL-chol, LDL-chol, SGOT, SGPT, LDH, GGT.
