IV ABSTRACT Master Thesis INVESTIGATION OF THE VOLTAGE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN TOOL AND MATERIAL DURING THE MACHINING OF THE GREY CAST IRONS ON THE LATHE Ahmet YARDIMEDEN University of Fırat Graduate School of Natural and Applied Science Department of Mechanical Engineering 2001, Page: 103 In this study, steel (CI 020), brass (%79Cu, %20Zn ve %lPb) and four different type cast irons materials were machined with the HSS tool at the 12x12x160 mm dimensions under the conditions of the various cutting speeds (125, 250, 355 rpm), various pitches (0.16, 0.32, 0.48 mm/r) and various feed depths (0.5, 1, 1.5 mm). Voltages obtained during these machinings were then measured. A mathematical model was developed by using the highest voltage values and the results were presented. Key Words: Lathe, cast iron, voltage difference.
