Abstract (EN)

In this study, oxidation of 3,4-dimethoxybenzyl alcohol, which is a modelcompound for lignin, with the oxidant potassium peroxymonosulfate(2KHSO5.KHSO4. K2SO4, Oxone) in the presence of homogeneous catalyst5,10,15,20-tetrakis(2,6-dichloro-3-sulfonatophenyl)porfinatoiron(III)(FeTDCSPP) or its latex bound analogue was investigated. Firstly, FeTDCSPPhas been synthesized in three steps. For heterogeneous catalysis, FeTDCSPP hasbeen bound to a latex which contains (styrylmethyl)trimethyl ammonium chlorideunits in high percentage. Oxidation reactions have been carried out by varying pH,quantity of the substrate, amount of the catalyst, the duration of the reaction andthe amount of the latex. It has been determined that 3,4-dimethoxybenzaldehydewas the main product of the reaction and the results of the oxidation reactionshave been given in the tables after the percentages of the residual substrate and ofthe product have been determined. Keywords: 3,4-Dimethoxybenzyl alcohol, Porphyrin, Oxone, Catalyst, Lignin,Oxidationii
