A comparative analysis of undergraduate program course information packages: The example of Qurʾānic course contents from faculties of theology

This research aims to conduct a systematic and comparative analysis of course information packages for Quranic Studies and Tajweed courses taught in Faculties of Theology in Turkey. Quranic education has formed the foundation of Islamic society's educational tradition since the time of the Prophet Muhammad and has continued within a continuity extending from madrasas to today's university system throughout the historical process. The competency differences that graduates of theology faculties encounter in their professional lives stem from inconsistencies in the course information packages of these subjects. This situation creates differences in the professional qualifications of graduates who will serve in institutions such as the Presidency of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of National Education, negatively affecting the quality of education. The scope of the research is limited to the five universities with the highest student quotas: Marmara, Atatürk, Süleyman Demirel, Necmeddin Erbakan, and Uludağ Universities. This limitation was made to ensure the consistency and accuracy of the study. The examination was restricted to Arabic preparatory, undergraduate compulsory, and undergraduate elective Quranic Studies courses, while graduate courses were not included in the study scope. Detailed analysis of regional and local differences is among the limitations of the study.
