The relations between self-regulation, life satisfaction and i̇mage of god in high-school students

The image of God holds significant importance for individuals across different religious beliefs, shaping various aspects of their lives. Adolescence, a period of intense psychological and physiological change, is critical for the formation of one's image of God. Other important factors that influence personal development are self-regulation and life satisfaction. This study aimed to explore the relationship between the image of God, self-regulation, and life satisfaction among high school students. It also examined whether demographic variables such as age, gender, type of high school, grade level, and parents' educational background played a role in these relationships. The research was conducted between December 2023 and October 2024, involving 419 students from a variety of high schools in Turkey, including Imam-Hatip Liseleri, Anadolu Liseleri, Fen Liseleri, Meslek ve Mesleki Eğitim Liseleri. Participants completed the "Image of God Questionnaire," "Self-Regulation Questionnaire," and "Life Satisfaction Questionnaire." The study utilized literature reviews and surveys for data collection, while data analysis was performed using one-way ANOVA, multiple linear regression, t-tests, and descriptive and correlational methods. The results revealed significant differences between the image of God and self-regulation, as well as between the image of God and life satisfaction. Furthermore, significant variations in the image of God were observed across age, gender, school type, grade level, and parents' educational background. Multiple regression analysis indicated that female students, those attending Imam-Hatip Liseleri, and individuals with higher self-regulation and life satisfaction were more likely to have a positive image of God. In contrast, males, older students, and those with lower self-regulation were more inclined toward a negative image of God. The study's findings partially supported the original hypotheses.
