Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to examine the relation of siber-bullying and siber-victimization to the family protective factors among a group of high school students. This descriptive study employs a correlational survey design. The sample of the study involves 669 high school learners randomly selected from high schools in Şuhut, Afyonkarahisar. Data were collected through the "Siber Victim-Bully Scale" and the "Family Protective Factors Scale". In the analysis and computation process of the data, frequencies, percentages and mean ranks were used. For the statistical analysis, Mann-Whitney U Test, Spearman Brown Correlation and Kruskal-Wallis H Test were practiced. Findings indicate that there is a significant negative relationship between the points attained from the Siber Victim Scale and those from the Family Protective Factors Scale. However, it is implied that any relation is not observed in the point attained from the Siber Bully Scale and the Family Protective Factors Scale. The points obtained from the Siber Bully Scale and Siber Victim Scale do not differ according to their grades or parental situation (married, divorced or being step or biological child). However, the points obtained from the scales significantly differ according to gender, type of school, parents' level of education, length of Daily internet use. This is also true for the variables of whether they have internet Access in their room and whether the parents strictly follow their time on the internet, whether the parents take on a liberal or authoritative attitude. Key words: Cyberbully, family protective factors, cybervictim, high school students.
