Abstract (EN)
The explosion of information that has been experienced with the effect of technology has led to an uncontrolled increase in knowledge by bringing uncertainty about the source of information. However, the assessment of the accuracy and reliability of information has become a problem. Information literacy skills are also a prerequisite for acquiring lifelong learning skills. Therefore, the main purpose of the research; The aim of this course is to determine the level of information literacy skills of Gaziantep College Foundation Private High Schools students and to emphasize the necessity and importance of an information literacy program that focuses on the subjects they are inadequate. In this research, in order to explain what information literacy skills will be gained by high school students; the concept of information literacy, the emergence and development of information literacy, the basic elements of information literacy, relationship with lifelong learning, other types of literacy, standards and models of information literacy have been examined. In this direction, the relationship between school libraries and information literacy, the contemporary education system and the relationship between information literacy, the aims of modern education system and school libraries, the importance of school libraries for educating individuals with information literacy have been explained. Descriptive method was used in the research. The technique of the research is resource scanning and questionnaire / test data collection technique. In order to prove the situation, pre-test and post-test were applied to the students who took information literacy course (experimental group) and who did not take the course (control group) and the difference between the groups was integrated there. As a result of the study, it was found that the information literacy skills of the students in the sample group were insufficient. Students have been challenged at every stage of information literacy; However, as a result of the information literacy training applied to the experimental group, it was seen that students' information literacy skills developed. After the information literacy education, positive changes in the knowledge literacy skills of the experimental group students proved the necessity of information literacy education in high schools.
