Abstract (EN)
In this study, which examines the career anxieties of high school students, it is aimed to reveal the predictive power of career indecision, irrational beliefs, gender and school type variables. The study group of the research consists of 563 (316 girls, 247 boys) high school students studying in 11 different secondary education institutions in the provinces of Ataşehir, Kadıköy, Maltepe, Pendik, Sultanbeyli and Tuzla in the 2021-2022 academic year. In the study, "Personal Information Form" prepared by the researcher to collect personal information of the participants, "Career Anxiety Scale" developed by Çetin-Gündüz and Nalbantoğlu-Yılmaz (2016) to determine career anxiety, "Professional Decision Inventory" developed by Çakır (2004) to determine occupational indecision levels and "Relationship Irrational Decision Inventory" developed by Yılmaz-Erdem and Bilge (2008) Irrational Beliefs were used. SPSS 25 package program was used for the statistical analysis of the data obtained within the scope of the research. To determine whether the career anxieties of high school students differ significantly by gender, t-test; Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was conducted to determine whether career anxiety levels differ significantly according to the school type variable. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to reveal whether career indecision and irrational beliefs, which are the other independent variables of the study, were predictive of career anxiety. In addition, gender and school type variables were also included in the regression analysis as dummy variables. As a result of the analysis, it was concluded that there was a significant difference in the career anxiety of high school students in terms of gender and school type variables. In addition, according to the multiple regression analysis, it was seen that career indecision, irrational beliefs, gender and school type variables predicted career anxiety significantly.
