The relationship between levels of high school students assertiveness social phobia and submissive behaviors

This Study about adolescents who is high school student; assertiveness, social phobia and submissive behaviors levels and conducted to examine the relationship between each other descriptive / cross-sectional survey. We need to examine research both in the country and the abroad; adolescence assertiveness, it did not contain any work that can be discussed with the level of social phobia and submissive behaviors . Hence research work is original. In Aydin Province, in the academic year of 2013-2014 with 462 students interviewed who were at the level of high school 1st 2nd 3rd 4th. In the study, Personal Information Form, (RAE) Rathus Assertiveness Inventory (Volta, 1980), (LSAS) Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale (Dilbaz et al, 1998) and (SAS) Submissive Behavior Scale (War and Şahin, 1992) were used. Personal information form is a questionnaire which consisting of 40 questions; it includes attitudes towards demographics; assertiveness and social behavior. In this study; the data obtained were analyzed by SPSS 21 software packages and reviewed. Data evaluation; basic statistical analysis, the two-sample t-test, One Way ANOVA, Kruskal Wallis and correlation analysis was used. The students' mean age who took part in the research was 16,41±1,10; and found to be 52.2% (n = 241) of them were female and 47,8's% (n = 221) were male. They were taken the score 10.49 ± 13.44 from the RAE, and 39.47 ± 9.46 the score of SAS and, 106.05 ± 21.01 the mean score of LSAS, and 52.54 ± 12.58 the mean score of Liebowitz Social Anxiety Avoidance Subscale and 53.50 ± 11.69 the score of Liebowitz Social Anxiety Fear Subscale. The analysis results in this study; student's SAS values be connected with, RAE mean scores were negatively correlated low levels (r = -0.028; p = 0.000) and LSAÖ Fear Subscale score averages between positive low level (r = 0.159; p = 0.001) and LSAÖ Avoidance Subscale score positive lowest among averages the levels (r = 0.186; p = 0.000) and total score between positive LSAÖ low levels (r = 0.200; p = 0.000) were found to be associated. SAS values mean scores were higher than .lonely feel the level of the students who have above average (t = 3.615; p = 0.000) and social interrelationship in self-assessing as below average the popular feel-level students (t = 1.961, p = 0.050). Students of religious belief indicating that a strong and important LSAÖ Fear and Avoidance subscale mean scores were higher (LSAS Fear: KW = 6.428; p = 0.040 LSAS Avoidance: KW = 6.779; p = 0.034) then the others. The adolescents' both about the request own that school choice and have a good family communication has lower scores of LSAÖ Liebowitz Social Fear Supbscale and Avoidance Subscale (LSAS Fear: KW=6,428; p=0,040; LSAS Avoidance: KW=6,779; p=0,034). As the results of this study; high school students who have high levels of assertiveness, the neck was found to be less than the deflection behavior. High school student who are adolescents have submissive behaviors, has been found to have higher levels of social anxiety and avoidance. The students whose parents with higher education levels, and who has great family communication and who felt himself/herself Popular; it is been found that, the students are have more assertiveness behavior and have less social anxiety and avoidance behavior and a submissive behavior.
