Abstract (EN)
In this study, it is aimed to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool that measures the irrational beliefs of middle school 8th grade students about the choice of high school. An 31 itemed test form was applied to 416 secondary school students attending 8th grade who are the study group of this research. As a result of exploratory factor analyses in order to determine the structure validity of the scale, a scale consisting of four factors with 21 items was obtained. As a result of confirmatory factor analyses, the structure consisting of four factors was confirmed. The subscales of the scalewere named as Inability to Choose, Error-Free Choice, Prestige and Self-Confidence. In studies on discrimination, it was found that in all sub-dimensions of scale items could distinguish the students who have high irrational beliefs about choosing high schools with low ones. Also, the correlation between the scale and the Irrational Beliefs Scale for Adolescents was examined. According to this; it's found that Irrational Beliefs Scale for Adolescents has a relationwith Inability to Choose sub-dimension .26, Error-Free Choice sub-dimension .35, Prestige sub-dimension .43 and no relation with Self-Confidence sub-dimension. Within the scope of the reliability study of the scale, the test-retest reliability coefficient obtained .91 for the overall scale and Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient was found .80. The correlation between the scale developed and the Irrational Beliefs Scale for Adolescents was investigated. The findings show that the Scale of Irrational Beliefs on the Selection of High School is a valid and reliable measurement tool for measuring the irrational beliefs of middle school 8th grade students for the choice of high school.
