Investigating the relationship of communication skills and irrational beliefs of high school adolescents with respect to some independent variables

In this research, the relationship between communication skills andirrational beliefs of the high school students in Eskişehir with respect to someindependent variables is investigated. The independent variables in this research aregender, education levels of their parents.The research has been done on 395 students among the high schools in thecentre of Eskişehir during 2004 - 2005 school years. SPSS program (StatisticalProgram for Social Sciences) is used to analyze the obtained data from the research.The finding that has been found from research could be summarized asfollows. A relation could be seen between the communication skills and irrationalbelief levels of high school adolescents. In favour of girls meaningful differencecould be seen for the different gender high school adolescents communication skills.Also meaningful difference has been found that girls irrational belief levels arehigher than male high school adolescents. Communication skills of levels highschool adolescents whose mothers are graduated primary school and high school hasbeen found significantly higher than the students whose mothers are universityeducated. Also, irrational belief levels of high school adolescents whose mothers aregraduated from primary school, middle schools and high school are significantlyhigher than the students whose mothers are graduated from university. On the hand,there was no significant difference on both communication skill levels and irrationalbelief levels of high school adolescents with respect to their fathers educationalstatus.
