The effect of outsourcing success on operating performance in logistics: Gaziantep case

Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects on enterprises that prefer outsourcing in logistics. Its effect on enterprise performance is probed by relating outsourcing success to supply management skills, knowledge sharing, collaborator involvement and communication. Activities that utilize outsourcing in logistics include transportation, storage and warehouse transactions, packaging, purchasing, inventory management, handling, insurance and customs clearance, while enterprise performance is measured with the criteria of productivity, profits, quality, new product development, technological efficiency, employee satisfaction and market share. Enterprises that employ outsourcing in logistic endeavors in the city of Gaziantep are examined and 110 enterprises conducted a questionnaire, the data of which is later analyzed. Accordingly, the findings reveal that there is a positive relation between supply management skills and knowledge sharing, collaborator involvement and communication; a positive relation between knowledge sharing, collaborator involvement, communication and outsourcing success and finally, a positive relation between outsourcing success and enterprise performance.
