A qualitative due diligence regarding the relationship between leisure time participation motivation and quality of life of mine workers: An example of a gold mine in Uşak province

A Qualitative Case Study on the Relationship between Mining Employees' Leisure Time Participation Motivation and Quality of Life: An Example of a Gold Mine in Uşak AIM Leisure time activities have positive effects on individuals and are thought to increase their quality of life and provide psychological and physical gains. In this research, it was designed to examine the relationship between the motivation and quality of life of mining employees' participation in leisure time activities held by the enterprise and to make a recommendation to institutions regarding workplace leisure activities. METHOD Qualitative research method and the case study method of these methods were preferred as they expressed the interests, suggestions and opinions of the employees of the mining enterprise within the scope of examining the relationship between the leisure time participation motivation and the quality of life. Probability-based strata sampling method was used for the sample selection of the study group of the research, and 50 employees and managers, 12 women and 38 men, participated in the study. As a data collection tool in the research, there are questions about demographic information (gender, age, unit in the profession, monthly income, year of employment, etc.) and semi-structured interview questions prepared by the researcher. Using the descriptive and content analysis of the collected data, modeling with the NVIVO package program, themes were created and presented. FINDINGS AND CONCLUSION In the findings obtained in the research, it was concluded that the male and female employees participating in the research were between the ages of 18-55 and worked in various units. Along with the 5 questions asked to the participants in the research, in the results of the questions asked in the findings obtained; leisure time forms of the participants 7 themes, recreational activities organized by the workplace 6 themes, opinions on the motivation level of workplace recreation and work efficiency 7 themes, individual and organizational achievements of leisure activities 11 themes, opinions on leisure time and quality of life 5 themes were found. As a result of this research, the leisure time motivation and quality of life of the employees of the mining enterprise, thanks to the leisure activities carried out by the enterprise, contributes to the employees in psychological, physiological and affective terms, increases the productivity and performance of the employees in the workplace, and increases the quality of life thanks to the opportunities offered by the enterprise.
