vSOLVING A MACHINE SELECTION PROBLEMWITH HIERARCHY GREY RELATIONAL ANALYSIS METHOD(M.Sc. Thesis)Alptekin DEM RAYGAZ UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYFebruary 2007ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is to propose a different method to solve themachine investment selection problem for a production companyoperating in Automotive Subsidiary Industry. In this multi-criteriadecision making problem, 3 alternatives were considered and they werecompared in terms of 27 factors in 5 main categories. Thus, the best fitfor the company?s needs has been determined by Hierarchy GreyRelational Analysis Method. The method applied in this study has beenused to solve the machine selection problem for the first time. Thisstudy will contribute not only to literature, but also it will be one of thecommon methods used in solving real-life problems with its hierarchicstructure, working with both crisp and fuzzy values and also taking intoaccount the criterias together, which are affecting the decisionnegatively or positively.
