Abstract (EN)
In this study, GOZn and NZn115 activated carbons have been prepared fromGölbaşı lignite and chickpea husk by chemical activation with ZnCl2, respectively. Poreproperties of the activated carbons and zeolit, used in the experiments, such as BETsurface area, pore volume, average pore diameter were characterized by t-plot methodbased on N2 adsorption isotherm. The N2 adsorption isotherm on the GOZn andNZn115 is type I and on the zeolit is type IV. The BET surface area of GOZn, NZn115and zeolit was determined 1075.20, 1270.44 and 11.84m2/g, respectively.GOZn and NZn115 coded activated carbons were used to adsorb DB2RN dyefrom aqueous solution at different temperatures (25, 37 and 50oC). Adsorptionisotherms, DB2RN dye on the GOZn and NZn115 were evaluated experimentally. Results were investigated by using Langmuir and Freundlich equation at differenttemperatures. It was found that the adsorption isotherm better fit both Langmuir andFreundlich models. Constants Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherm weredetermined at different temperatures. The kinetic of adsorption of DB2RN dye on GOZn and NZn115 wasinvestigated by using pseudo second -order kinetic model. Results show that theadsorption DB2RN dye from aqueous solution with ozone and without ozone onto theGOZn and NZ115 proceeds according to the pseudo second-order model. The activationenergy (Ea) was determined as 22.34 and 30.87kj/mol for GOZn and NZn115,respectively. The adsorption type of the DB2RN dye on the GOZn and NZn115 wasdefined as physical adsorption. In addition, results show that the presence of activated carbon during wastewater ozonation produced a strongly increase in the wastewater degradation. This studyshows generally the combined use of ozone and activated carbon as an attractive optionfor degradation toxic organic compound. Results show that COD and BOD values ofvalues of waste water decrease effectively in the presence of the activated carbon duringwaste water ozonation.KEY WORDS: Ozone, Activated Carbon, Zeolite, Adsorption, Waste Water Treatmentii
