Abstract (EN)

Idiopathic Parkinson's disease is a progressive degenerative disease. The incidence increases over the age of 65 years. It is one of the important diseases that causes disability in advanced age. It is a disease that motor and non-motor findings can be seen in its clinic and that has a symptomatic treatment approach. It is more common in males. In this study, we reviewed the information about the patients with idiopathic Parkinson's disease who had been admitted to the outpatient clinic in the last 17 years. We evaluated the demographic and clinical findings, treatment options of patients. We aimed to create a profile of the Idiopathic Parkinson's disease in the area where we live and compare the obtained results with the literature. 1150 patients who were referred to the neurology department of movement disease policlinic for parkinsonism were evaluated. 578 patients diagnosed with Idiopathic Parkinson's disease were included in the study. Demographic data such as age, sex, place of birth, place of residence, accompanying diseases, family history, habits of patients were recorded. Clinically, age at onset of disease, initial clinical symptoms, dominant symptom, non-motor findings, treatment options, and problems related to treatment were recorded. 63.5% of the patients were male, 36.5% were female. The mean age of the disease was 68.51 (SD ± 10.35) in males, 68.37 (SD ± 11.22) in females, the onset age of the disease was 62.61 (SD ± 11.31) in males and 62.55 (SD ± 12.46) in females. 69% of the patients were born in Malatya. 66.4% of the patients had the first clinical finding as tremor, while 55.4% had the tremor as the leading complaint. It was seen that 57% of the patients had non-motor finding. It was observed that 52.8% of the patients did not have dementia. As the clinical stage progressed, it was determined that there was a significant increase in dementia rate. Hypertension (M / F: 35.2% / 47.2%) and thyroid diseases (M / F: 2.3% / 10.3%) were more frequent in female patients than in male patients. Impulsive-compulsive behaviors which are treatment-related problems were more common in males than in females (M / F: 17.8% / 8.5%). In this study, we have created the general profile of Idiopathic Parkinson's disease in and around Malatya. The results of the parameters that we were able to evaluate were largely similar to the literature. A more comprehensive study in the future by considering missing or insufficiently questioned parameters, will provide a more detailed disease profile in our region.
