In one patient, three protozoa (71 intestinalis + G. intestinalis + E. coli ) were seen Protozoa were seen in 62 (12.4%) samples and 63 (12.6%) by applying native-lugol and trichrome stains respectively. In both stains ( native-lugol and trichrome), the detection rates of protozoa were as fellows; 26 (5.2%), 31 (6.2) for G. intestinalis, 11(2.2%), 14 (2.8%) for E. histolytica, 9 (1.8%), 1 1 (2.2%) for E. coli, T. intestinalis was only detection by native-lugol 10 (2%), 3 (0.6%), 4 (0.8%) for B. hominis. 1 (0.2%),2 (0.4%) for E. nana, 1 (0.2%). 1 0.2%) for E. hartmanni and C. mesnili were only detection by native-lugol 1 (0.2%) Cryptosporidium sp. were found in 8 out of 500 patients (1.6%) by Kinyoun asid-fast. On four samples (0.8%), Cryptosporidium sp. was seen in mixed infection with G. intestinalis For our knowledge, this in the first intestinal parasitic study that deals with diarrheaic stool in Malatya. Therefore, we are unable to compare our results with other studies in Malatya.
