Method: In this pair- matched case-control study, 113 singleton low-birth-weight infants in 2015 in the Şehzadeler region was constituted the case group. The control group was consisted of 113 babies born in the same year-month and matched with the same family health center and identical sex as the infants in the case group. The participation rate in the survey is 90.2%. The questionnare included birth weight and birth lenght of newborn, sociodemographic-sociocultural features and habits, mother's medical-obstetrical history and services provided during antenatal care visits. In comparison of paired matched cases and control pairs, Mc Nemar Chi-square test was used in categorical data. Odds ratio was calculated %95 confidence interval limits. p <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Conditional logistic regression analysis were used analysis of multivariates. Results: The prevalence of LBW was 4.6%. Blood pressure measurement and weight follow-up were performed on almost every visit to the case and control group on each visit. In the last model, the factors that increase the risk of DDA were determined as mother's inadequate weight gain in pregnancy, high blood pressure, and the occurrence of any of the obstetric emergencies. Conclusion:Mother's inadequate weight gain in pregnancy, high blood pressure and the occurrence of any of the obstetric ailments was found risk factors for low birth weight. In both case and control groups, services within the antenatal care were frequently given. To reduce the frequency of LBW, During the visit to antenatal care, risky pregnancies are identified, and the interventions for reduce or eliminate the risk factors must be planned.
