Abstract (EN)
In the current study, it was aimed to evaluate the relation of physical activity level and life quality at sedentary profession and to encourage sedentary workers for physical activity at best level regarding the effect of physical activity on life quality.The population of the research consisted of individuals working at a sedentary profession in the city of Ankara and the sampling consisted of a total sum of 313,172 women and 141 men, randomly chosen out of the population.In the study, the long form of International Physical Activity Questionnaire has been used to determine the physical activity levels of the individuals and SF-36 life quality scale has been used to evaluate their life quality. The data were analyzed through Student?s T test, Mann Whitney U test, Ki-Kare and Kruskal Wallis H test.Depending on the data obtained in the research, it was found that weekly energy consumption of the individuals was 2249.62 ± 2253.91 MET-dk/week, 25.2% of them were not active while 48.9% had a low level physical activity and 25.9% had enough physical activity to maintain their health. As for physical activity levels of the individuals, it was found that men with a BMI of 25 kg/m2 and over were more sufficient than those below BMI 25 kg/m2, compared to women (p<0.05).Upon the investigation of life quality of individuals, it was found the mean of physical health score was 51.28 ± 7.24 and the mean of mental health score was ise 41.43 ± 11.40. In the analysis of life quality score depending on the gender and age groups, it was found that there was a significant difference in the scores of physical and mental health while a significant difference was found between mental health scores for BMI (p<0.05).Concerning the results obtained in the research, physical activity levels of individuals was found low and it had no relation to life quality of individuals.Keywords: Physical activity, life quality, sedentary worker.
