Philosophy of mathematical experience: Rreuben Hersh

In this study, it is aimed to understand the philosophy of Reuben Hersh's mathematical experience and to reveal the implications of this perspective in terms of mathematics education. Mathematical experience; it contains many elements such as mathematics, mathematician, history of mathematics, philosophy of mathematics and mathematics education. As a mathematician, Reuben Hersh emphasizes his own mathematical experience in forming his philosophy of mathematics. In line with the purpose of the research, it is provided to understand what the philosophy of Reuben Hersh's mathematical experience is through books, articles and interviews using document analysis method, which is one of the qualitative research methods. It was concluded that Reuben Hersh critically viewed the thoughts in the history of mathematics philosophy, did not agree with the mainstream mathematics philosophy thoughts, and considered the philosophy of his mathematical experience as humanists and mavericks. In addition, by calling himself his own slant as "social-cultural-historical" within the philosophy of humanist mathematics to the philosophy of his mathematical experience; It is seen that he is depicted by emphasizing on the people who are aware of their experiences and the elements shaped by man. It has been seen that Reuben Hersh's views on the nature of mathematics in philosophy of mathematics, which emphasizes experience, are student-centered in mathematics education, that the teacher is a guide, and that mathematics classes and curricula should reflect the essence of mathematics nature. At this point, it is also concluded that the perspective of Reuben Hersh's philosophy of mathematical experience is compatible with competencies regarded in our country's Mathematics Curriculum in terms of mathematics education and NCTM standards.
